My name is Jesse and I work in Melbourne, Australia. I am from Rarotonga, in the Cook Islands.
There are 15 islands that make up the Cook Islands.
The Southern Island Groups are: Rarotonga - Tumutevarovaro, it is the capital of the Cook Islands; Mangaia - Au’au Enua, is the second largest island; Aitutaki - Araura Enua; ( These next 3 islands are known by their combined name Nga Pu Toru - Atiu - Enua Manu, Land of the birds; Mauke - Akatokamanava, Garden of the islands; Mitiaro - Nukuroa, Face of the ocean ); Manuae is a sanctuary; Takutea is a sanctuary; and Palmerston is a settlement for the William Marsters family
The Northern Island Groups are: Pukapuka - Island of beautiful girls; Manihiki - Island of Pearls; Rakahanga - The undiscovered island; Penrhyn - Tongareva; Suwarrow - Treasure Island, A conservation reserve; and Nassau - Garden of Eden
Air New Zealand operates flights from AKL-Auckland and direct flights from LAX-Los Angeles; PPT-Air Tahiti operates 2 flights between Rarotonga and Tahiti; Pacific Blue operates flights from Melbbourne to Auckland and then to Rarotonga.
Distance from Auckland to Rarotonga is 16053km or 10033 miles, and flight time is about 4hrs.
The name ‘Cook Islands’ is a well known brand name, so take the time to explore what these islands have to offer. They present a very peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with beautiful beaches, and most resorts are within close proximity to the beaches. Being tropical, the weather is pleasant all year round…
